My Name’5 Doddie Foundation

Background

Doddie Weir was one of rugby’s most recognisable personalities. In June 2017 he revealed that he was suffering from Motor Neuron Disease (MND). His brave fight against MND and drive to raise awareness and funds, has motivated thousands of fans worldwide to go to extraordinary lengths to raise money for his charitable foundation, My Name’5 Doddie Foundation (MNDF). The Foundation exists to fund research, raise awareness and support those affected by MND. Since inception, they have committed over £19.5 million to research and a further £2 million in grants to individuals living with MND.

Brief

To create a refreshed Visual identity for MNDF as it moves forward as leading one of the UK’s leading MND charities. This will initially be used to bring to life the 2022 Strategic Plan, the new Website design and future communication materials. The new visual identity must incorporate the current MNDF colour palette and distinctive Doddie Weir tartan.

Solution

Creating bold, hand-painted headlines. The bespoke new typographic styling is then combined with ‘cut-out’ photography, graphics, and a ‘sprinkle’ of Doddie’5 signature tartan. A monochromatic tartan pattern was also created to be used when the full colour tartan could not be. This new visual identity delivers a striking, fresh and distinctive look for this unique organisation.

Visual identity design, Hand-painted text Illustrations, Graphics and icons, Printed and digital communications materials and Website design. The MNDF website was designed by CTD Studio but planned, built, and is continually managed all by the excellent team at TDA.
